Good to hear from you Gabby! Big hugs my sista! Yes, the strip searches were very traumatic to those of us who had to endure them. Very humiliating. Hey! There has been talk on FB....sisters wanting another reunion. Wanna write me your thoughts on this?
Hello All, Wanted to touch base with everyone and say thank you for how mature you all have been! I have stayed away for a bit b/c I thought it would be much more argumetative in here. So, I see everyone has met Lucinda. LL and I were students together @ HH, and we obviously have differing memories as to how we were treated/or motive for treatment. We have long since buried our differences and have agreed to disagree. I know it is easy to argue and debate things that we feel passionately about...please don't let certain thigs draw us away from the bigger picture. BTW, Lucinda, in fairness, I want to tell you that I did delete a few of your big posts. They were ones where you just posted bunch of Bible verses or were copying and pasting stuff....I don't have room on here for all of that. I do have it saved in a file, so anyone wanting to read it can request it from me. Thanks. On a personal note, I want to reiterate something that so many of you have already said so well...but it is worth the repeat.... We were there over such a huge span of time, so obviously not all of us know everything that happened during a particular year or time frame. Then again, we have multiple girls from certain years, so some things are easy to corroborate based on personal recollection. As far as "strip searches" go...I had my intake in August 1989, and I was strip searched in the upstairs bathroom by Heather Williams. There is no one who is going to tell me that I did not go through that experience...it was traumatic for me @ the time, and it is still traumatic for me when I have to recall it. No other student/staff was in there to witness it, so obviously that is not something that I can have someone else "back me up on". However, when I hear from other girls who talk of a strip search,I have no problem believing it....because it happened to me.
Oh, you're fine. You're not interupting. Well, technically I defaced my body, which is biblically wrong. But, it was my own personal choice, as an adult. But, I could still hear the sermon on that one and what a immoral woman I am. But, still funny to think about.
Not trying to interrupt a private conversation here, but somehow I doubt if tatoos and the BBC would mix. The idea is pretty darned funny to think about, though!
Yeah, Toledo isn't far. I'm out in Colorado so not so easy for me...LOL! When we were back in Winona Lk for the reunion in June, several of us tried to walk down the driveway at the Pierceton Rd house and they stopped us. I do believe the church is "open" although I think if they thought you were trouble they wouldn't let you in. I hear ya on the tattoos! I have several, including a big blue pentagram on each wrist....I would be sure to wear short sleeves! LOL
